The market town of Werfen is located in the Pongau region, about 40 km south of Salzburg in Austria. The most famous sight is the largest ice cave in the world, the Eisriesenwelt.

Pfleggerichtsgebäude: a building from the 15th century, which was fundamentally extended and rebuilt in 1531 under Cardinal Matthäus Lang. The historic Kuenburg vaults are used as function rooms.
In 1969, the coin hoard of Werfen was found here, about a thousand gold and silver coins of the early modern period buried around 1535. They are now in the Salzburg Museum.
