Scheffau am Tennengebirge, in Salzburg dialect (d') Scheffau [??f??a??], is a municipality with 1421 inhabitants in Lammertal, Tennengau (Hallein district)
in the province of Salzburg, Austria. The competent court district is Hallein. The municipality lies on the northern slopes of the Tennengebirge mountains, which are up to 2300 m high,
which forms the border to Pongau in the south. The first documented mention of Scheffau as Scheffawe dates back to 1249.
The municipality of Scheffau became independent when it was separated from Golling through the creation of local municipalities in 1849.
