Thomatal is one of the 15 municipalities in the district of Tamsweg (Lungau) in the province of Salzburg in Austria. The municipality of Thomatal is located in the valley furrow between the Schwarzenberg and the Lungau Nockberge mountains in the Salzburg Lungau and Carinthian Nockberge Biosphere Park.

Edenvest castle ruins
Catholic parish church Thomatal hl. Georg: Also pilgrimage church, first mentioned in 1470. A statue in front of the parish church commemorates Valentin Pfeifenberger, the most famous parish priest of the Lungau. It shows the parish priest during the Palm Sunday procession with a donkey.
